Cheryl Sweeney at Brad Warstler's Studio

Cheryl Sweeney combines training in classical realism with a passion for impressionism, and is best known for her poetic pastel landscapes and delicate botanical drawings.

She has received a Letters Award from the League of American Pen Women, and in 2004, she was juried into the Pastel Society of America (PSA) as an associate member.

In addition to a successful fine art career, Cheryl pursued her love of plants and nature and earned a Certificate in Botanical Illustration. She has regularly exhibited with the Guild of Natural Science Illustrators and was instrumental in developing a Certificate Program at the Botanic Gardens, UNC Chapel Hill, in Chapel Hill, NC where she taught drawing and illustration.

Cheryl has traveled throughout the United States painting, teaching, and exhibiting, and her work is in private and corporate collections nationwide. Rural landscapes and the natural world continue to be her primary sources of inspiration. Cheryl is on the faculty of The Jacksonville Center, the only Residential Craft School in Virginia, and she lives in the Blue Ridge Mountains in Floyd County Virginia, working out of her studio loft on Locust St.
