About Floyd

Floyd County is a region of rural pastoral beauty. It contains the longest
section of the Blue Ridge Parkway of any county in Virginia. High
on this plateau, vistas range from rolling meadows, to scenic mountain
views. In the town of Floyd, the only traffic light in the county is near
several interesting eateries, a country hardware store, antique stores,
and other shops. Floyd has local wineries and a gourmet and health food
store. The Floyd Country Store has Appalachian mountain music spilling
into the street every Friday night. The Crooked Trail, Virginia's music
heritage parkway, also meanders through the county. The natural beauty
of waterfalls, mountain meadows, and the winding Little River can be found
everywhere.

About Montgomery County
Montgomery County hosts both the cultural diversity of Virginia
Tech, and the beauty of rural farmland and rolling hills. The county
lies in the broad picturesque area between the Appalachian Plateau
and the Blue Ridge Mountains. In downtown Blacksburg (the home of
Virginia Tech), you can find a range of restaurants and coffee shops:
try the great breakfast at Gillies or the pizza at The Cellar. On
weekends there is live music and a farmer's market. Minutes
outside of Blacksburg there is beautiful Ellett Valley. Mountains
rise on either side of you, nestling within them country homes and
fields of sheep and horses. The New River edges the county and provides
great fishing, canoeing, swimming and tubing. Where ever you
go in the county, enjoy the wild blooming dogwoods and redbuds in
the spring and the collage of colors in the changing leaves autumn.
